Celebration Giveaway!!!

Welcome to the world Jett!!

Just over one week ago my little sister and her husband had their first baby boy. He is the tiniest (2.75kg) most gorgeous little boy, and after only a week he has well and truly nuzzled his way into our hearts! It is extra exciting for me, as we live only five minutes from each other, and Jade and Kym have always been like surrogate parents to our kids (we have always seen Jade at least a few times a week, as Kym is a chef - so works ridiculous hours, as most chefs do - and Jade usually has a couple of dinners a week with us). So this means that little Jett is not just our nephew, he will be a part of our extended family in the loveliest way possible. And for Lee and Kate it is practically like having another sibling (Lee wants to know when Jett will be a big boy and play trains with him).

So I've been planning this giveaway all week. I mean, you can't have something so wonderful happen in your life and not throw something good back out into the world can you?

Also, I've been reading some awful crafting stories on various blogs lately, regarding theft, design copying, and general unethical behaviour in the crafting world. But what I have found truly inspiring is that the people who have been infringed upon have refused to let the negativity invade their life and bring them down. And for every unethical copycat crafter out there, there are hundreds (possibly thousands) of kind, generous and honest crafters doing their thing. In fact, I received some gorgeous japanese fabric I bought from Corrie from Retro Mummy last week, and for no reason (other than being a generous person) she threw in two free fat quarters of more gorgeous fabric. Such a lovely surprise! And only this morning I was reading my bloglines to find that I have won my own first blog giveaway! Justine from 62Cherry was giving away some lucky dip fabric packs, and I was one of the lucky winners! Yay!! Thanks so much Justine :) Also, I have noticed two other crafters running giveaways (visit machen machen : make/do and crafty remix: djbebe to check them out). So I figure what better time to keep the great craft karma going, by sending out my own little package into the world, to hopefully make someone's day!

Originally I hoped to have time to make a bag specially for this giveaway, but I have realised that if I wait until I do this then little Jett may end up being big Jett the teenager. So I'm taking the easy option of pulling a bag out of my shop, to be sent to a random reader.

This little bag is made from a combination of new Japanese cotton canvas, green recycled cotton fabric remnant, and a recycled faux-suede curtain. The brooch is made from new felt and an old button from my Grandma’s button tin.The bag is reversible, so you can turn it inside-out to match whichever side best suits your outfit (or your mood!).

To enter the giveaway, I am asking for one small thing, I would like you to tell me about something that is really good about today. It can be as small as enjoying your fresh aromatic tea for breakfast (yep, that's what I'm actually doing right now) or as big as gratefulness for your beautiful children. I don't mind - just a happy thought. Something positive :)

Oh, and I'll draw the winner on Friday (Aussie QLD time) so plenty of time to enter :)

Congrats on your new little nephew!

The best thing about today is...

I'm not going to put my hand up for this one though- even though I would LOVE to... it's a beautiful bag, I love the reverse side especially- I already feel lucky to be doing a swap with you- so I reckon the love should be spread elsewhere!! :o)

Something good about my day... the sun's shining, I've been working in my garden, and the earth is rich and healthy and ready for the new seedlings I have been raising... all in all stuff that makes me happy! :o)

Congratulations on the arrival of Jett into your extended family. What a cool aunty you are going to be!

A good thing about today for me is that I am on Day 6 of a detox and I feel good: my body feels healthier (and yes, it could be all in the mind, but who cares?) and I'm enjoying the discipline and pleasure of eating nothing but fresh, healthy food. (And even better, my hubby is doing it with me, and he is doing great as well).

Another good thing about today is the coolness in the air, which means winter is on the way!

Groovy bag, by the way.

Well Bec, you have made my day. The Xerox repair man came this morning to fix the double-sided printing element of our printer ($210 to find out that it will cost another $400 to fix - I don't think so!). As you can imagine I wasn't thinking of the day in warm, fuzzy tones. I stopped to take a cup of coffee and read your blog. The sun (literally) came out and I had a big smile on my face. Congratulations on the arrival of little Jett. I'm like a clucky mother hen around babies and your news reminded me that there are such good things going on the world. We have grandchild number six waiting in the wings, ready for his/her debut in October. That puts Xerox Bad Thoughts back where they belong.

I was going to say the good thing about today is getting to read another of your blog entries (but I was beaten to that thought by Hot Fudge ;) !!!)

So the good thing about today is the fact I got to do some sewing :) and now I hear my gorgeous little girl awakening in the next room - enough to put a smile on my dial!

Congratulations on the arrival of your little nephew Jett, you will have to get started on knitting some booties for him for the winter!

Congratulations on your little nephew. Don't newborns just make your heart melt?

What's good about today, and everyday, is my children. Cliche, perhaps but oh so true for all of us. We look at them and wonder at how much more enriched and fulfilled our lives are having had them.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Something really good about today?
It was cold enough to wear my coat this morning. I love my coat - it's a genuine 1950s tweed trenchcoat and makes me feel like a spy.

My really good thing about today is that my husband has cooked dinner without any help/nagging/complaining from me - and it's ready right now!

Congrats on the new nephew! There seems to be lots of babies arriving at the moment - I personally know five women who are expecting/due very soon, and about ten bloggers who are the same! Must be the season!

Today has been good for me because the sun is shining after a cold snap, I've had my favourite noodles for breakfast, cast on some knitting for a pair of handwarmers, and spoken to my niece on the phone, and apparently she now knows lots of words!

Very exciting.....

I love the little bag - I always liked that mushroom fabric, but I never got around to buying some - silly!

Congratulations on your new nephew, being an aunt is a great way to spoil kids that aren't yours!!
Something great about today was hearing giggling and singing from the family room as I was in the laundry loading washing in the machine. I came out to find my twin toddlers had turned my empty washing basket into a boat and were 'row rowing'! Too cute!

Welcome to the world Jett! Congrats to you, your sister and BIL!

The best thing about today is that I found the cutest bag to win! :P Okay, okay.. I'll be a lil more serious. Well, actually, my best friend whom I haven't seen for soooo long popped by to pay me a visit. She's been tremendously busy these past weeks, we never had the chance to meet. So, that was a nice treat :)

congrats on the arrival of Jett. newborns are so wonderful. I love the feel of their velvet skin and the smell of their sweet heads. Emnjoy his newness, they grow sooo quickly!

A good thing about today is that it's the day before my birthday and I get to have a party tommorrow with fairy bread and cake and it all makes this dreadful cold I have today seem not so bad:)

When I woke up this morning I thought of all the stress and worries that seem to control my life and make me who I'm not.
Then I had an ortho-bionomy session and came to the realization that I am in control of nothing. I know that from now on I must live my life knowing there is a great plan already in place and I can take that moment to breathe and appreciate all I have.
I have so much to be thankful for, such as my 5 beautiful yet ornery children, my son who is in remission from leukemia, my husband who's grandmother passed yesterday, all the friends who have stood by my side while I've been battling an illness these last two years.
I'm thankful for all that happens in my life, good and bad. This is what is good for me today...the knowledge that I can just live, breathe, be and not overanalyze.

AND I received in the mail some very lovely Mary Engelbreit fabric (an ebay purchase) that I can't stop looking at.

Congrats to you and your family!!

A wonderful day is almost over, and I have enjoyed being with my beloved, little family.
Today's positive thing is just that - nothing big or unusual - but yet very big, important and the very most positive thing in my life :0)

Welcome to Jett - and what a wonderful name.

Your giveaway looks fantastic!

Something good: a day that was forecast for rain found us walking back from the postbox in the early evening sun, the children picking forget-me-nots and pink-edged daisies.

thank you!
your post has made me think about today. initially i thought that nothing good had happened today - in fact it had been a rotten day. but then i stopped to really think about it and i remembered that a lady that we clean for had been in hospital this week having a lump removed from her breast. she was home today and she was happy to report that the cancer had not spread. i'm so glad that she is okay. it just goes to show that no matter how bad things seem, you can always find a ray of sunshine.
