Day two of Pip's Week of Children's Vintage Illustrations meme.
I read this to my son last night. Another book from my childhood. Unfortunately the last page at the back was ripped out (I'm blaming my brother - he always sabotaged my books :P) and we didn't realise until we got to the end. Whoops. So I had to make it up!!!
But the illustrations are gorgeous.
The book is called A Dragon in a Wagon (and other strange sights), and is a Little Golden Book. Written by Janette Rainwater, illustrations by John Martin Gilbert. Published in 1966. I love what the little boy is wearing on the cover. Shorts, long sleeved shirt (with decorative stitching), a belt and a tie (that's a bit too short). Gotta love it!!!

I have this book too and I love it, it is one of my favourite Golden Books!
oooh i love this book! We have it too... it was much-loved (i.e. ripped pages, pencil marks...) before we got it, but the pages that are left are just fabulous!

I love your books. They seem familiar, but I think it is the style rather than the actual book that resonates. They are such great pics and they really appeal to the imagination. Love the mouse sitting on the plane's undercarriage.

These are so great! Crying kittens! I love the colours too, and how all the images are a bit crazy - like a crane in a plane.
cute cute pictures! I have a collection of golden books from my childhood and I've been trying to come up with a way to display the artwork without ruining the books...my only thought so far is scanning the artwork and printing on fabric for a quilt...still noodling the idea around
